Chris and I came to the Santa Ynez Valley because Chris and I came to the Santa Ynez Valley because of a shared interest in wine. Somehow, that interest also led us to trying something completely new together.

At @buttonwoodwinery , Chris rode Belle for his first-ever horseback ride, while I was paired with Banana Bread for my first time back on a horse since my Girl Scout days nearly 20 years ago.

Neither of us arrived in Santa Ynez expecting horseback riding to become part of the story, but it ended up being one of the experiences we talked about most afterward.

I love when reporting on a place takes me somewhere I didn’t expect to go.

For this piece, I explored local coffee shops, regenerative lavender farming, mushroom cultivation, family-friendly attractions, and vineyards rooted in an ancient seabed.

Along the way, I learned what sets quality mushroom coffee apart, how regenerative farming helps restore the land, and why the region's landscape plays such an important role in its wines.

The full story takes a closer look at the places, people, and discoveries that reveal another side of Paso Robles. Read it at the link in bio.

This wine stop is in Capital Hill. A friend who li This wine stop is in Capital Hill. A friend who lives in the area recommended @theshopagora, and I was so happy she did.

This Greek wine bar allowed me to try Greek wines, which I haven't had before. This is something I've started valuing, tasting new wines when I have the chance. It allows you to expand your palate and your mind. It's especially helpful while I'm fully immersed in my wine studies to get to associate a taste with a specific region or grape I'm learning about.
