Chemex coffee is a beautiful way to make a clean c

Chemex coffee is a beautiful way to make a clean cup of pour over coffee. Not only is the resulting coffee consistent, but the coffee-making vessel itself is a work of art. However, getting a good brew from a Chemex requires the right coffee to water ratio, the right tools, and an attention to detail.

1. Heat water to 195℉ to 205℉ in a gooseneck kettle. (I recommend going for a lower temp to avoid scorching your coffee)
2. Measure out 40 grams of whole coffee beans.
3. Grind beans to a medium-coarse grind.
4. Rinse filter with hot water before adding grounds to the top of Chemex.
5. Pour water over grounds gently and slowly.
6. Use a 1:12 ratio or find your perfect Chemex ratio on the blog!

How to Make Winter-Flavored Cold Brew

There’s so much you can do with cold brew, and I’ve gotten pretty experimental with cold brew coffee due to all the time I’ve had at home. The most success I’ve had is in making naturally-flavored cold brew by infusing fresh spices into the coffee grounds while the brew steeps.
⁣
One of my favorite cold brew flavorings is gingerbread — perfect for the upcoming holiday season.
⁣
𝐺𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑆𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝐵𝑟𝑒𝑤 𝑅𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑒:

To make a gingerbread-flavored cold brew, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried ginger root (depending on how much you like ginger) and 1 cinnamon stick to the bottom of the filter basket of your cold brew coffee maker. Then, proceed to add coffee grounds as normal over the spices for making cold brew.

𝐶𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝐵𝑟𝑒𝑤 𝑀𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑇𝑖𝑝𝑠:

The cold brew ratio I use is 85 grams of coarsely ground coffee to 380 grams of filtered or spring water. When making cold brew, I recommend using dark roast coffee beans, as the chocolatey flavors tend to come forward — ideal for cold brew.
