Add the brown sugar immediately after the espresso is pulled.
To make sure your brown sugar fully dissolves, add it to the espresso shots as soon as they’ve been pulled from your machine. Proceed to mix until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
If you add the brown sugar after the milk or the ice cubes, you may end up drinking brown sugar grains, which is not my cup of tea.
Use cold brew coffee ice cubes instead of regular to prevent your drink from getting watery.
If possible, add cold brew coffee ice cubes to your iced latte instead of regular ice cubes. This will add another element to this recipe and keep it from turning into a watered down mess.
You only need to add two or three of the cold brew ice cubes. Any more will likely give you the jitters.

When your drink is ready to serve, use a glass straw to enjoy the purest taste. Glass won’t impart any other flavors (assuming it’s clean).
Stainless steel straws are great too because they absorb the temperature of the beverage they’re in. That means they will help to keep your drink cold for longer. My FAVORITE steel straws are Klean Kanteen’s because they have soft silicone tops that prevent you from bumping (or even chipping!) your front teeth. Buy Klean Kanteen’s stainless steel straws here!
An attempt to recreate Balconi Coffee Company’s almond-essence latte — served warm.
When I moved to the other side of the country (Pennsylvania), I longed for my favorite Los Angeles coffee shops — one of those being Balconi Coffee Company in Sawtelle.
My all-time favorite drink was their well-known almond-essence latte. This is not to be confused with an almond milk latte. This recipe typically uses whole milk, and the almond extract takes on the part of the almond-essence in this recipe.
Since I no longer live in LA, I made my own version of their drink and put it over ice because it’s summer. I’ve been drinking them all season long.
