If you’re looking for a non-dairy coffee recipe, this oat milk iced latte is a must-try.
- This non-dairy iced latte is perfect for vegans and non-vegans alike — it’s THAT good.
- The barista blend oat milk takes this latte to a whole new level, making it coffee-shop competitive.
- For best results, use fresh coffee beans & grind them right before you’re about to pull your espresso.
It’s definitely a requirement that you use a barista blend oat milk for this recipe.

In order for me to put my official stamp of approval on this recipe, you have to use an unsweetened, barista blend oat milk. The difference between regular oat milk and barista blends is that they add small amounts of oils, salts, or gums to help them to froth properly (if using for hot lattes or cappuccinos).

This minor difference in ingredients makes a significant difference in taste. Barista blend oat milk is so creamy, and it also tastes slightly sweet. It’s the best alternative I’ve found that comes even close to an iced latte with whole milk (that’s saying a lot since I hail from the Midwest).
My personal recommendation for this iced latte is Califa Farms’ Unsweetened Oat Barista Blend. You can purchase it in bulk here on Amazon, which is what I do and it offers a slight discount if you subscribe (so that you receive shipments every 2 months). Make sure to get the unsweetened one!
Always use fresh beans and grind them just prior to pulling your espresso shots.
For best results, you should always use whole coffee beans that have been roasted within the last two weeks. And you should wait to grind your coffee beans until you are ready to pull your shot of espresso.
As soon as you grind your beans, they start to go stale. This is because more of the surface area of the bean is now exposed to air. That’s makes it’s so essential to wait until the last minute to grind your beans.
Light roast coffee is best for this drink.
Light roast coffee beans pair best with oat milk. Since light roasted beans tend to be more vibrant and sweeter than darker roasts, it beautifully highlights the natural sweetness of the oat milk.
I really love Ethiopian coffee beans and Honduran beans for this coffee drink recipe.
