Enjoy this simple & original dalgona coffee recipe.
- This is an easy recipe for dalgona coffee, otherwise known as whipped coffee, with a Girl Scout cookie twist.
- The main ingredients are coconut shreds, instant coffee, brown sugar, and caramel sauce.
- For a grown-up twist, you can even add in some Jaegermeister Cold Brew, Kailua, or any type of coffee-flavored liquor.
Rim your glass first before adding any ingredients.
The first thing you want to do is rim your glass or chosen vessel with caramel sauce. Then, you can dip it in toasted coconut.
Next, you can add the milk, coconut syrup, and ice cubes to the glass and put it in freezer to keep it cold. It shouldn’t freeze or crack because it won’t be in there that long.

Helpful Hint: I made my own coconut creamer ice cubes. You can buy coconut creamer from the store or make your own.
Make the whipped coffee.

Next up, you can start making your whipped coffee. I really love Cafe Bustelo’s instant coffee. I have a huge canister, and it’s lasted me all summer.
Place your instant coffee, boiling water, and brown sugar into a mixing bowl. All of the brown sugar is 100 percent necessary for this recipe to work well.
You can start mixing your ingredients until peaks form (just like in making whipped cream). This should take about 5 minutes, if using an electric mixer. If by hand, well…good luck (just kidding, takes about 100 strokes).
Add the whipped coffee to the milk mixture.
You can now grab the glass out of the freezer, and top the whipped coffee on top of the milk and ice. It looks best if the whipped coffee is nearly overflowing past the rim.
Make it pretty.
Your drink probably already looks great, but you can make it look more like a Caramel Delight by drizzling caramel sauce, chocolate syrup, and toasted and/or regular coconut shreds over the whipped coffee.
Serve your dalgona with a glass straw to keep the drink extra cold. Etee, a company passionate about reducing plastic, sells beautiful reusable glass straws. I have one in the teal color, and I find it’s the perfect size for my iced coffee drinks. Buy etee’s beautiful glass straws here!
Helpful Hint: For a grown-up spin on this drink, you can add a little bit of your favorite coffee-flavored liquor. I love Jaegermeister Cold Brew with this coffee drink. I’m careful to never drink these too late into the evening or I’ll never get to sleep.
This recipe is a tribute to my all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie: Samoas or Caramel Delights (as they’re known in the Midwest).
