Enjoy this holiday coffee beverage at any time of the year — it’s that good.
- It’s time for the holiday coffee recipes to commence as we enter a new season.
- This gingerbread iced latte is the perfect fall or winter treat.
- To make it even more heavenly, add a hint of nutmeg over the top as a final touch.
You can purchase a pre-made gingerbread spice syrup to make this coffee drink even quicker.
This recipe includes the instructions to make your own delicious gingerbread simple syrup. However, if you don’t have the time for that, just find a high-quality brand such as Torani’s, Amoretti’s, or Maison Routin’s gingerbread syrup.
You’ll add the same amount of the store-bought syrup as is called for in the recipe below (2 to 3 teaspoons).
Store the leftover gingerbread syrup in a mason jar to enjoy all season long.
If you did make your own gingerbread syrup, you’ll definitely have extra. I put mine in a small mason jar in the fridge. It should keep for about two weeks.
Be sure to let it cool completely to room temperature prior to placing in the refrigerator.
If you want to prepare this drink warm, skip the ice cubes and enjoy from a cute holiday mug!
If iced coffee isn’t your style, you can also prepare this drink warm by skipping the ice cubes and foaming your milk. You can use an electric frother or steam your milk in the microwave. See this post here on how to do it!
And to make this gingerbread latte even more festive, enjoy your drink out of an adorable holiday mug. Check out Daily Christmas Inspo’s post on 6 of the cutest holiday mugs you must have this season!
For a more indulgent treat, top this drink with dark chocolate whipped cream (recipe below!).
To take this iced latte to the next level, use dark chocolate whipped cream to give the drink its finishing touch. Though it might sound like an odd combination at first, the dark chocolate and gingerbread flavors actually blend quite decadently.
To make the whipped cream, follow the recipe that’s laid out here in my strawberry shortcake recipe.

Use a glass straw or stainless steel straw.
Note: I may earn a small commission when you make a purchase through some of the below links. Read my disclosure policy to learn more.
When your drink is ready to serve, use a glass straw to enjoy the purest taste. Glass won’t impart any other flavors (assuming it’s clean).
Stainless steel straws are great too because they absorb the temperature of the beverage they’re in. That means they will help to keep your drink cold for longer. My FAVORITE steel straws are Klean Kanteen’s because they have soft silicone tops that prevent you from bumping (or even chipping!) your front teeth. Buy Klean Kanteen’s stainless steel straws here!
As always, use coffee ice cubes if you can to avoid a watery beverage.
This is something I say in many of my posts, but I highly encourage using coffee ice cubes or my famous cold brew coffee ice cubes. This will keep your drink from getting watered down like with regular ice.
And you don’t want that after all the hard work you put in in preparing it.
Gingerbread Iced Latte Recipe (Better Than Starbucks)
Bring water to a boil in a small sauce pan. Once boiling, stir in the sugar and let it boil until it starts to thicken slightly. If it's not thickening, add more sugar.
Once it takes on a syrup-like texture, remove the pan from the heat. Add in all of the spices and mix well. Lastly, stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool and place in a storage jar or container. Set aside.
Pull your espresso shots, and place inside your desired drinking glass. Add the simple syrup first to the espresso and stir until completely dissolved.
Next, add the milk, ice cubes, and whipped cream (if desired!). Enjoy!

How long can you keep the simple syrup for?
Cheyenne says
Homemade simple syrups last about one week in the fridge! I’d suggest making a smaller batch if you don’t think you’ll finish all of it in the week.
